Fay Hield
Getting Inside Folk Song

About Folk Kitchen →

25 Jul 2019

We will sing together, exploring the songs we sing, and look at ways to make them our own. No experience, or a 'good' singing voice needed, just enthusiasm, interest and a get stuck in attitude.

Fay is a folk singer and editor of songs, having recorded several albums and toured widely. She also teaches at the University of Sheffield, looking at how music is important to people's lives and sense of community.

About Folk Kitchen

Unique evenings of learning and sharing folk traditions whilst enjoying a communal meal with like-minded individuals.

Workshops are for all abilities, experienced or new to folk music. Led by experienced tutors, they will focus on various folk traditions including unaccompanied and harmony singing and storytelling. You can sign up for individual workshops via the Soundpost website or Facebook.

The wonderful team at Foodhall will provide a meal for both workshop attendees and the general public, for a chance to share your thoughts, songs or stories. This will be followed by a session led by the guest tutor, where those who attended the workshop will be able to share what that have been learning as well as everyone being able to get involved.

Last Thursday of the month.

  • 6pm Workshop (Sign-up)
  • 7pm Food (Public)
  • Session (Public)

All events are a suggested donation of £10. No one turned away due to lack of funds.
